In the last post, I mentioned a number of blogging job boards that are out there, so the number of opportunities for bloggers does seem to be growing. Before I became one of the moderators for the Performancing Exchange board, I had planned on setting up a blogger job listing as well, and have been pondering doing it anyway for a few reasons (below).
Now I’m not fooling myself; this site has inconsistent traffic, primarily because I don’t post here as often as I used to - but there are days where pageviews go up to 250+. While I don’t know the abilities of visitors that come here, the site is aimed at beginner and intermediate bloggers, some of whom do not necessarily want to earn money from their endeavours. So given that that’s the case, and since Performancing Exchange does not currently allow non-paid blogging jobs, I figure there’s no conflict of interest here - most especially because my traffic is a tiny fraction of what Performancing gets.
So, what I’m doing is opening up listings to any site that is looking for bloggers, at no charge. Blogging jobs can be paid or non-paid. If the latter, you should at least offer a link to the blogger’s site, or otherwise promote them somehow. For other types of work, such as a need for template/ web design or plugins, I’ll open up my CodeProfessor site to listings in the near future. So just blogging jobs for now.
How it works is as follows: [PLEASE NOTE: Internet Explorer web browser, for some reason, will not let you post drafts in Wordpress. So use something like Mozilla or Firefox, possibly Netscape or Opera. Otherwise, I’ll never see your job posting.]
- When you are viewing a page on this site, you’ll see “Register” and “Login” links at the very top right. Click on either, and go through the registration process. Use a relevant user name and a real email address, as you’ll be emailed your password.
- Once you login in with your account, you can go to the “Users” link in the Wordpress control panel and change your password, email, and nickname. Once registered, you cannot change your login name. (Please no naughty names.) Please use the panel to type in your real name (or that of the contact person for the registered email).
- I get notified that you have registered and bump you up to a “contributor”. You will know I’ve done this by checking for your user level under the “Users” section of the Wordpress control panel. Your user level should say ‘1′ (it’ll be ‘0′, zero, by default). You will not be able to post until then.
You can now click on the “Write” link in the Wordpress panel and fill out your “blogger job” posting. A few tips:
- Use a post title similar to the following: “Blogger Wanted: So And So Site/ Network”, or “Blogger Job: …”.
- Try to provide as much info as possible, including network or site name (unless it’s for a client), details of job, payment structure, contact name, method of contacting, approximate duration of project, etc.
- If you do not want to reveal the pay per post, no problem. If you are not paying, no problem, but do state that, as well as what you plan to offer in return - such as a link or promotion of the blogger.
- USE THE POST CATEGORY “Blogging Jobs” ONLY!! You should see this in the category list at right, when you are creating a listing. You can leave the default “General” category, if you want.
- You can use the “save and continue editing” button to preview your post. When you are satisfied with your blogger job listing, use the “Save” button. It’ll be saved in draft mode.
- I’ll check for postings at the end of each night, around midnight Toronto/ New York time zone (EST). If the posting is legit, I’ll promote it to the site.
- When a job is filled, you can update your posting. Please don’t delete it. I’d like to keep the information for others for future reference.
- Anyone who violates the rules will be blocked from the site. Please respect others when you post.
- This service will always remain free, for as long as it runs. If my role at Performancing Exchange changes such that there is a conflict of interest here, I’ll stop allowing further posts.
Enjoy, and feel free to ask questions.
